Production Principles Unit [40 Credits]
Now until the end of January
Informed Practice 1 and Visual narrative begin in Spring
- 6 Week Rotations (2 Week per Rotation, Week 01 – 06)
- Animatics – introduction to storyboarding (storytelling) as well as creating animatics
- Stop Motion – focuses on 3D stop motion animation, looks at how to create movement using puppeteering animation
- 2D Digital Animation – focuses on the characteristics of movement and the principles of animation, using Blender.
- Big project at the end of the 6 weeks!

View Finding: Process and Practice
- Creating original artwork inspired by the series of research workshops and lecture sessions
- Studying artists, films, aesthetic movements, theoretical concepts
- Working in any medium (an animated sequence, a sculpture, a painting, a poem, a sequence of illustrations, an installation, etc)
- The most important outcome is that your work demonstrates your ability to contextualise and reflect upon your learning through the unit!

- Learning Experience – You are here for yourself! Uni is not mandatory.
- Stay critical, stay curious, keep asking yourself and others questions 🙂
- Ask for second opinions, am I really finished, Did I do enough research, am I taking as much advantage as I could be?
- The more fun you have, the more engaged you will be, and the better your final outcome and grade!
- Dare to fail – to explore, you must be willing to make mistakes!
- Be prepared to crumple up and trash your old style, and start from scratch!

Communication
- Email – when reading emails, read carefully! All information you need to know is usually included in our emails.
- Double-check before sending us an email, chances are your question is answered!
- Politeness and professionalism in emails – doesn’t have to be crazy though
- Open Studio / Online Space – space is used for presentations and information in regards to all Units of BA Animation Year 1 on Moodle – usually on Tuesdays
